Configurable Parameters
The PSK receiver includes user-configurable parameters that can be adjusted for optimal reception based on the channel. These include the number of equalizer taps and the location of the first tap. Typical settings use 44 forward (FIR) taps, 6 backward (IIR) taps, and a first-tap location of 16.
The receiver's computational load increases with the square of the number of taps. The combined number of forward and backward taps must be less than 70. Additional taps can also increase noise, so more taps do not always improve performance.
